Program “Week-end” 2 days/1 night
The following castles compose this program :
– Chambord, the biggest and most prestigious castle in the Loire Valley.
– Villesavin, “the Chambord building site “; the Chambord baillif’s seat in the sixteenth century.
Each day follows the same pattern: riding out from the stables in the morning, picnic lunch at the castle, optional visit and return to the stables every night. Accomodation in conformtable 2-stars hotel wich typical french cook made with local products.
Château of Villesavin day – About 4h00 riding
This day leads North through Sologne forests discovering a little private castle linked by history with Chambord : Villesavin. It used to be the leaving site of Chambord intendant during its construction in XVIth century. Cold meal in front of the castle followed by its guided visit. You go back on saddle to come back to Courmemin crossing Fontaines en Sologne village and its beautiful XIIth century church.
Château of Chambord day – About 3h30 riding
This day if a one way itinerary to the most famous and the biggest castle of all : Chambord. In the morning, you will ride through sand paths and familiar forests of Sologne to reach Bracieux village for lunch. You will admire its gorgeous XVIth hall and enjoy your lunch on Nizeron’s banks. Back on saddle for afternoon riding in the heart of National Park of Chambord, biggest closed park in Europe, and finally see its magnificent castle rising in front of you. You say goodbye to your horse to end your day visiting the castle (about 2h00).
COMFORT AND ACCOMODATION
Time on horseback – 3 to 4 hours per day.
Equestrian level – Intermediate or confirmed riders at ease in all three gates.
Horses – Trail horses, Franches Montagnes and Franches Montagnes crosses. Educated using natural horsemanship, sure and sturdy, respectful and healthy in mind and spirit.
Tack – Trail and English saddles, saddle rugs with bags.
Guide – Ken leads this trail ride. He was born and bred in Sologne, is a full-time resident and knows all the nooks and crannies of this magnificent region by heart and his aim is always to help you discover it in the best conditions possible.
Accomodation & meals
In comfortable hotel**, in Twin room. The bed linen is provided such as towels.
Cold lunches are homemade: mixed salads, local cold meats, savoury tarts and breads, traditional goats cheese, seasonal deserts.
The three-course dinner is preceded by an apperitif and includes wine, cheese and coffee. All meals are taken in hotel restaurant and are made from local products. The goats’ cheeses and wines are made in France.
Please, notice on this trail that drinks are not included and have to be ordered on-site.
Single rooms are availible on request and depending on the availibily. The price for this option is 40 € / nuit.
Every rider travelling alone must agree to pay the supplement for a single room if we do not find another rider to share his/her room.
